Freedom Trail Boston 5/18

Jarrod here…

We had a great day in Boston today. We adventured out on our own and explored the Freedom Trail. Haley loved it having just finished US History. Cameron, with his fascination war history, was full of questions. We all enjoyed the colonial architecture. Haley stood in the circle next to the Old State Building and was awe-inspired by the fact that she was standing exactly where the Boston Massacre took place. She was also quite moved by the potato famine memorial. Carmen and I were most moved by our visits to Paul Revere, John Hancock and Sam Adams (we love visiting cemeteries). Paul Revere’s house was a treat as was the creamy gelato he had in the North End. We were there a bit early for lunch as many of the Italian restaurants weren’t yet open. We returned the ship shortly after noon. I was peering over our balcony with Haley and watched my prescription sunglasses drop into the sea and sink into the darkness – it was a slo-mo moment for sure. Haley though it was hilarious; Carmie did not share in her amusement. Prior to dinner, we saw the new live action Jungle Book in 3D in one of the ship’s theatres. We all really enjoyed it. We also some amazing family portraits done today. We have a sea day tomorrow, but have a dayful of activities. It should be a great day. Turning in.
