Sydney, Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island 5/20

Jarrod here…

Wow, talk about a really nice, hospitable group of people. Sydney is such beautiful little seaside village. The locals were some of the friendliest we’ve met in our travels. We did an historic walk through the old city and saw some beautiful little churches along the way. We visited a craft mall and bought some beautiful wood pieces made by locals. We stopped at a Sobey’s grocer for beer and a few minutes of free WiFi. It seemed a bit out of the way; however, there were droves of people along the sidewalks carrying beer and wine back to the ship (we were not alone…haha). We jumped back on the ship for a fine lunch, then returned to some markets and found a Nova Scotia license plate for Cam’s room (it’s really getting hard to find license plates). We returned to the ship for the transatlantic sail away party. Our pre-dinner show was pretty awesome…a group of Brits called Junnk. They performed and amazing percussion / comedy routine using all makeshift instruments. We are losing an hour a day for five out of six days due to traveling East. As a result, we retired early after dinner.
